偶然发现国外一篇关于国内的品牌复制问题的文章,和前些日子Belief的文章差不多,也是在谈论国内设计领域中的抄袭问题,E文的看了个大概。

Europe, Copy, China, Paste

Wednesday – April 4th, 2007

In a sense China can best be described like the “Copy-Paste” button of the real world. After two weeks of travelling through Beijing, Shanghai and Suzhou it has become very clear how huge the brand- and productcopying problem is.

I always thought you would have to find some dodgy, well-hidden streetmarket with a few stands in the dark corner selling those North Face jackets and Nike shoes that somehow slipped out from the production lines - but no! The so-called silkmarkets are organized into huge malls, 8-12 storeys high, with employees of the month, identical uniforms and mapping of where to find what. There is no secrets, no hiding from authorities, no nothing - You can get anything.

Intellectual copying?!

In Shanghai we went into a giant mall on the main street and saw ridiculous copies of the Armani and Hugo Boss brands and everywhere in Beijing, Shanghai and Suzhou you saw really obvious copies of the KFC, Nike and Apple brands, to name a few - This time only with some chinese guy instead of the KFC colonel, a small twist of the swoosh or a simply trying to use the Apple brand and logo to sell shoes or underwear! Give me a break…

In other words they copy not only physical products, but also intellectual property like brands, concepts logos and so on.

Obviously all these western brands have a very serious problem here. The market is huge in China and clearly these copies will at some point also flood the western markets. But to me the really sad thing is, that it seems to be such an integral part of their culture… To copy instead of think up ideas themselves. Everywhere you look, you see bad and sometimes even ridiculous copies of western culture - It’s just unbelievable how much there is lost in translation, and I simply cannot understand that the country that shall host the next Olympics allows this.

All there’s left now is to wait for the china to use that classic Apple slogan: “Think different”.

从来就很欣赏Apple 的那句“Think different”,倒是很希望同仁能真正把工作做得更好,已经有很多好的设计师给我们带来了不少惊喜,我们还需要更多的精彩。
